Advice
shoes
Bring comfortable shoes you don’t mind beating up. I suggest trainers of some sort(Nike Air Max, New Balance, Asics, Sauconys to name a few) because you WILL be walking a lot. The bus is great to get around but not always on time and you’ll get places faster by walking.
Clothes
Honestly, I feel like I like I could’ve bought my clothes there at Zara and came with an empty luggage. It can get somewhat chilly at night. It dropped to the low 60’s a few times while we were there but I don’t know if that was a fluke situation. Its mostly in the 70s-80s in the day but the sun creeps on you if you don’t wear sunscreen.
Stuff
I made the mistake of not buying a portable charger. Don’t make the same mistake. Its a game changer and a lifesaver.
Festival
This is the trip of a life time. Have as much fun as you can. There’s going to be so much to see and experience. The first day of the festival can be a bit overwhelming but after that you get the hang of it. I would definitely scout the area and see how far you are from your next talk. The outside tents like Google, Spotify, Microsoft, Pinterest, etc have huge lines sometimes so you gotta get there early. That could mean cutting off your current talk early to make that walk because its about 15 minutes to get there, that includes re-checking in your bags. If I could, I’d come here every year. ITS LITERALLY THAT GOOD.
Going out
Chances are you’ll end up in groups and not everyone will always be together, its just the nature of things. At night people can get a bit weird depending where you go since they know you’re not from around there. I speak on this mostly for the women on the trip since I saw first hand how the locals tend to have their eye on foreigners.
